Midwinter: The Birth of the Sun
Midwinter marks the shortest day of the year, and marks the darkest, coldest part of winter, when the sun appears to be at its weakest. The decline of the sun is often accompanied by careful vigils and the lighting of fires and candles to encourage the return of the sun’s strength.

The make-up and beauty studio opened in Callan at the start of 2011 and is owned and run by Karen Maher,
Karen contacted me about three weeks ago, to see if I would be interested in helping her to create a studio portfolio for her, needless to say I was delighted to help.

"Welcome to my web site, nigelborrington.com
Whilst I run my Wedding and Studio photography business from www.studio63.ie I work with Landsacpe and Nature photography on a regular basis.
I had included a section on www.studio63.ie for this area of my photography, I have however now moved all this work to www.nigelborrington.com .
Thus the main function of this new web site is to exhibit my landscape and nature photography and provide for a visual outlet for it.
I also intend this site to be informative about the locations I visit for my photography and to detail the reasons I find these location of great interest. I will also show the techniques used to produce the included images.
I include a section that will develop, relating to photographic techniques and the equipment needed to produce good Landscape and nature images."

These spring days are bringing some more than welcome warm weather after the winter we have experienced, what perfect conditions for outside photography and portraits.
Aoife Murphy contacted the Studio in order to produce some images to mark the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of her parents. More...

Rafter Family - WaterGate theatre 2011.
The Rafter family are based in Threecastle Co.Kilkenny and runs one of the country’s best private music schools. Each year the school holds an end of year concert and this year this was held in the Watergate theatre Kilkenny.

Twins Ciara and Rebecca at the lyrath hotel.
One of the weddings that the studio worked on recently contained a very different angle than we have ever work on before.
Identical twins Ciara and Rebeca Murphy were both the bridesmaids for Sandra Anderson.

New web site design
The studio has just completed a new design for our web pages. New colors, images and a more focused menu layout. We also detail our new packages and options.
This work is currently still developing, we are undergoing a review of the methods we can start to use to expand our marketing. We intend to use the philosophy of evolution not revolution, these are hard times but we intend to keep finding methods to move forward based on the work we have developed to date.

A Christmas wedding in Carlow
The last two winters in Ireland have seen the most seasonal weather we have experianced for many years, with snow and freezing conditions making an intense return. Most of November and December 2010 temperatures fell below zero even during the day time.
Studio63 had two wedding booked during this period, one of which was located at St Mary’s church,Bennekerry Co Carlow. full Blog article link...

In black and white photography obtaining the correct exposure for your prints and Digital files is vitally important. Because black and white images have only tonal range for you to work, you have to find a method by which to decide which exposure is correct for your needs.

Studio63 Flying high with - Kilkenny Flying Club
Of all the activities that Kilkenny has to offer, booking a flight through the Kilkenny Flying club has to be one of the most interesting. Getting up into the air to get a clear view of the city and its surrounding areas is one of the best ways that you can see the county and its surrounding areas.
Kilkenny Airport is located on the Ballycallan Road toward Tullaroon. The airport is clearly sign posted and is about 3 miles from the town.
